The following is a construction update for the week ending July 20th. 

STOUGHTON

Crews will perform periodic construction activity in the Stoughton Switching Station.

CANTON

Cable splicing operations will resume this week at the previously installed manhole located on Route 138 north of Blue Hill River Road. Cable splicing operations are a 24 hours a day / 7 days a week process.

MILTON

Cable splicing operations are on-going and will continue this week at the previously installed manholes located on Route 138 by Caroline Drive, near Curry College and near Austin Street. Cable splicing operations are a 24 hours a day / 7 days a week process with the average splice taking 5 to 10 days to complete at each location.  

BOSTON

A new manhole is currently being installed on Cummins Highway near Burger King and construction began in April. This activity will take approximately 10 to 12 weeks to complete.

Construction activity will also occur periodically at six previously installed manhole locations within the City of Boston. The previously installed manholes that crews will be working at this week are located on Cummins Highway near Burger King, near Woodhaven Street and near Caniff Monuments and on American Legion Highway near, Austin Street, near Canterbury Street and near Blue Hill Avenue.

Cable removal and pipe certification operations are on-going in South Boston. This week, crews will be working in the K Street Substation, on K Street near East Second Street, on East Third Street near Linley Terrace, on I Street near East Seventh Street and on Columbia Road near the foot of I Street. 

Cable pulling operations are scheduled to continue in Boston this week at the manholes located on American Legion Highway near Austin Street, near Canterbury Street and near Blue Hill Avenue.

Cable splicing operations will continue this week at the previously installed manholes located on Columbia Road near 619 Columbia Road and on Cummins Highway near Woodhaven Street. Cable splicing operations are a 24 hours a day / 7 days a week process with the average splice taking 5 to 10 days to complete at each location.  

GENERAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Crews will maintain at least one lane of travel in each direction along Route 138, Cummins Highway, Columbia Road and American Legion Highway and one lane of travel on I Street, K Street and East Third Street. General work hours are from 7AM to 5PM Monday to Saturday on Cummins Highway,7AM to 4:00PM Monday to Saturday on I Street, K Street and East Third Street, 7AM to 7PM Monday to Saturday in the K Street Substation and Stoughton Switching Station and 9:30AM to 3:30PM Monday to Saturday along Columbia Road and American Legion Highway. All splicing operations are 24 hours / day, 7 days / week.   

There are no scheduled power interruptions as a result of this work.
